Reservation for Puducherry UT candidates belonging to different
categories are given below:

• Horizontal Reservation: - Seats
reserved / allocated under these categories will become operational only
if the minimum seats earmarked for each of these categories are not
filled up under normal process of selection in any category.

Scheduled Caste
Candidates (SC)
Candidates claiming admission under this category should be Origin-SC
candidates and should enclose the required certificate issued by an
Officer of the Department of Revenue
and Disaster Management, not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar.
Other Backward Classes (OBC) & Most Backward Classes (MBC) Candidates
Candidates claiming admission under these categories should enclose the
recent OBC/MBC certificate issued by an Officer of the Revenue and
Disaster Management not below the rank of Tahsildar.
Freedom Fighter
Category (FF)
Candidates claiming admission under this category should be Children /
Grand Children of Freedom Fighters and they should enclose the necessary
certificate issued by the Officer-in-charge, Freedom Fighter Cell, Govt.
of Puducherry.
Physically Handicapped Category (PH)
Candidates claiming admission under this category should enclose the
necessary certificate issued by the Competent Authority, which will be
screened by a Medical Board, constituted thereof.
Wards of Ex-Servicemen
Wards of Ex-Servicemen claiming admission under this category should
enclose the necessary certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
Sports Personnel
Category (SP)
Candidates claiming admission under sports category should have
excellent caliber in sports and games and those who have showed
consistency in sports activities. To ensure only such candidates get
benefited under the Sports Quota seats, selection of candidates under
Sports Quota will be considered in the order of priorities as given
below:

Selection Guidelines for Sports Quota:
1. Games and sports events organised by the Department of Education,
Government of Puducherry, at Zonal School games championship and State
School games championship alone will be taken into consideration. The
games and sports events are listed below:
(a) Athletics (b) Cricket (c) Volley ball (d) Foot ball (e) Basket ball
(f) Hand ball (g) Badminton (h) Chess (i) Kabadi (j) Kho-kho (k) Table
tennis (l) Hockey (m) Ball badminton.
2. The medal winners are to be ranked first as per the priority order
given in the above mentioned Table.
3. If a candidate has won more than one medal at different levels, the
medal winning event which is having the highest priority order, will
only be considered for ranking.
4. If a candidate has won more than one medal in the game/ sports
events in a single tournament/ competition, such as Athletics,
Badminton, Table tennis etc., where there is a chance of winning more
than one medal, the highest medal winning event/ game will only be
considered for ranking. Example: 100 m, 200 m and 400 m etc., in the
case of Athletics and singles and doubles in the case of badminton.
5. There will not be any differentiation between team events and
individual events, as far as ranking is concerned.
6. A Committee will be constituted to scrutinize the applications
received under this category and will rank the candidate based on the
marks assigned to the certificate enclosed along with the application,
7. In the event of a tie arising among candidates, the ranking is to be
done by considering the medal winning events of lower priority order and
participation in various events in the same order. For further tie, if
any, the ranking will be done based on the tie-breaking procedure
outlined in the table given under the selection procedure for admission.
8. The final authority to settle all disputes in the matter of
selection under Sports Quota will be CENTAC.
Special Regional Allocation for Karaikal, Mahe
and Yanam
Candidates claiming admission under this category should be residents of
the respective region, for a continuous period of 5 years, preceding the
date of application.
To claim admission under special allocation from Karaikal, Mahe and
Yanam regions, candidates should have studied in the recognised schools
located in the respective regions continuously for 3 years, immediately
preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the
qualifying examination). Mere stay in places such as residential hostel
would not amount to residence. They should produce residence certificate
from the competent authority not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar.
These candidates should enclose the necessary certificate in the
prescribed format only (enclosed here in the bulletin).
This certificate should be obtained from The Head of the Institution in
which they studied, and countersigned by the respective Chief
Educational Officers of Karaikal and Mahe Regions, and the Regional
Administrator of Yanam Region. They should also enclose residence
certificate issued by an Officer of the Department of Revenue and
Disaster Management, not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar of the
respective regions, clearly indicating the addresses of residence.
NOTE: i) Residence/Regional/Special Allocation once claimed in the
application will not be changed under any circumstances.
ii) All the claims for the residence/regional/special allocation should
be made in the proper format and should be signed by competent
authorities specified.
For Other States / UTs Candidates
Out of the 80 seats of sanctioned intake 90% (72 seats) will be allotted
to the candidates from UT of Puducherry. Of the remaining 10% seats, two
(2) seats are reserved for candidates from Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
and six (6) seats will be allotted to the candidates without any
reference to the nativity and residence of the candidate.
Note: If the reserved seats shown against SC and OBC/MBC are not filled
up, then, those seats will be allotted to the candidates of UT of
Puducherry, under general category. In case there are not enough
qualified candidates in the UT of Puducherry, then, candidates from
other States/UT may be considered for admission.
